Q&A: How can I protect my online photos on my website?

Question by GεεK: How can I protect my online photos on my website?
I know it is impossible to completely protect photos online, but what is the best way to protect them from being stolen? I’m not too happy to put watermarks on them. I still want my site and photos to be enjoyable. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Thanks, I already know about the print screen. =)
Thanks for the script.

For anyone else, my site is html.

every computer has a PrintScrn key, so anyone can steal anything they see on their computers. Other than watermarks, the only thing you can do is control who accesses your site.

Do the online photo websites serve as a backup for your digital photos?

Question by mark: Do the online photo websites serve as a backup for your digital photos?
Just curious that if you uploaded all your pictures to an online website (like photobucket) and then you had a fire in your home and lost the backups to your photos that you uploaded. Could you retrieve copies from your uploaded files? (like download all 3000 pictures on the website back down to my computer). Do photo websites allow that?

No way, I only ever put low res photographs on line with a signature.

I store mine on multiple hard drives, its the only safe way.

What are some of the best free stock photo sites?

Question by Jonathan: What are some of the best free stock photo sites?
I am an avid photoshop user, and I haven’t really found a good free stock photo site (I’m not even certain there is one). Stock.xchng is the best I’ve found so far, and it is above average, but I was hoping to find a better photo database.

Try photos saved under a creative commons licence. Images that the copyright holders don’t mind you re-using, for free.

http://search.creativecommons.org/

(If you use a flickr link, click on an image that seems suitable to take to the photo’s page and then click on the “All sizes” tab above the picture.
At the bottom of this new, large image is the licence for reuse.)

What photo stock company also offers video ‘sales’?

Question by holacarinados: What photo stock company also offers video ‘sales’?
I have a few videos that I think would be good ‘stock’ videos. I saw that fotolia accepts video uploads but only up to one minute (mine are 90 sec to 4 minutes) , and when I spoke to them, they didn’t seem to optimistic about their video dept. Are there any other photo stock companies where you can submit videos, and if accepted, can be offered for sale like stock photos? If not, is there another way to ‘rent’ or ‘lease’ or sell your videos?

Best answer:

Answer by mvr r
I like Shutterstock. As a submitter, you are required to submit samples before they accept your videos but once you are in, you can do pretty good in sales. If you want to make even more in sales, you can isolate the audio in your video, produce marketable sound bites and sell audio files as well.

Does anyone know of a good Stock Photo website where I can sell my photos?

Question by JackBond: Does anyone know of a good Stock Photo website where I can sell my photos?
What I’m really asking is, do stock photo websites exist that let me sign up and sell my photos at my own leisure? I don’t want to pay a continuous fee. If they’ll take a percent of the income and leave it at that, I’d be perfect. Does such a website exist?
